About B.A.C

BAC Aeromedelling Club

The club was formed in 2002 and has went from strength to strength with around a membership of 50. The club has an agressive training scheme and has two traing aircraft with buddy box operation for initial trial flights. However trainees should obtain their own model and equipment. Training is done inline with recommendations from the BMFA, and SAA schemes and trainees work towards a solo flying status by achieving their BMFA 'A' or SAA bronze award which test the basic safe flying ability of the trainee. The club has a number of examiners who are qualified to perform this assesment

Training

There are a number of trainers who can assist the newcommer to complete their Bronze or 'A' award as quickley as possible. The time taken to achieve these awards varies greatly but generally older pupils take longer. However the normal time to go solo will be somewhere between six months to a year. Remember the more practice the better and hence if you just turnup one every few weeks then it will take much longer. We try to keep pupils with one instructor but this is not always possible.

A high wing trainer type model will be required to ensure stability and thinking time when learning so please do not think you will be able to come along and fly that Spitfie or jet model after a few weeks because that just will not happen.

Flying Events

Balbedie Aeromodelling Club trys to encourage all its members to come along and take part in club flying days no matter what your abillity. Members are encouraged to become part of the club and all its activities. you will meet many new friends and like minded modellers and all will be happy to help with any modelling problem .Club League events with BBQ are held a number of times per year and these are great for getting to know everyone. we also encourage you to bring the family along to allour events .
